Tiffany & Co. has acquired an emerald weighing over 10 carats, directly sourced from the renowned Muzo mines in Colombia, Diamond World reports.
Named the “Tiffany Muzo Emerald,” the gemstone is a rectangular square cut emerald extracted from the historic Puerto Arturo shaft in December 2019. What makes it exceptionally rare is its remarkably high clarity, ensuring superior transparency that accentuates its stunning color, according to Tiffany. The stone is virtually free of inclusions and fissures, displaying only a few microscopically examined inclusions consistent with those found in Colombian emeralds from the Muzo mine.
According to the jeweler, “the Tiffany Muzo Emerald showcases the highly sought-after perfectly saturated green hue associated with Muzo emeralds. Its remarkable combination of significant size, origin, color, and exceptional crystal quality is a testament to the marvels of nature, justifying its new designation: the Tiffany Muzo Emerald.”
The Tiffany Muzo Emerald will make its debut alongside the release of “Blue Book 2023: Out of the Blue” this fall.
