Waterville, Maine-Longtime De Beers Group executive Charles Stanley has joined the board of directors of Day’s Jewelers.
Founded in 1914, the New England retailer began as a family-owned business and is now employee-owned. It has eight locations in Maine and New Hampshire.
Stanley, who retired earlier this year, spent nearly three decades in the industry.
He joined De Beers in 1994 as the company’s marketing director. In 2003, Stanley joined Harry Winston as vice president of merchandising and operations before returning to De Beers in 2010 as president of De Beers Brands in North America.
“I am delighted to be joining the board of Day’s Jewelers, a company I have known through the business relationship I have developed with De Beers. I have great respect for the company’s values and commitment to natural diamonds, and I look forward to using my experience to help Day’s Jewelers continue to grow as the company evolves under its new ESOP [employee ownership] structure,” said Stanley.
Day’s said Stanley’s commitment to driving positive change within the industry and his dedication to promoting ethical practices “align perfectly” with its values.

Joining Stanley on the board are Jeff and Kathy Corey, Ann Arnold and Erin Moran.
