New York-The Original Miami Beach Antique Show will celebrate its 60th anniversary at next year’s event, which will take place January 11-15 at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
The upcoming milestone event will feature pop-up educational sessions, multiple on-site activations and collaborations with key partners, as well as showcase jewellery, watches, handbags, art, furniture and home décor from more than 600 dealers.
The show follows the South Beach Jazz Festival, which runs from 4 to 7 January, and coincides with Art Deco Weekend, which runs from 12 to 14 January.
The Miami Antiques Show is also partnering with Sotheby’s again this year.
At the fair’s annual Appraisal Day on Saturday, January 13, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., ticket holders may bring one item for a free verbal appraisal by Sotheby’s experts.
New to the event’s annual educational offerings, architect Peter Pennoyer, whose firm specializes in residential architecture, will host a conversation with Tim Kelly, who has been with Peter Pennoyer Architects since 2005 and founded the firm’s Miami office in 2010.
The two will give a presentation entitled ‘From City to Country: An Inside Look at Designing Houses Today’, followed by a Q&A, on Sunday 14 January at 2pm in the event’s new Modern and Contemporary Art Pavilion.
The discussion will include tips on how to incorporate antique and vintage furnishings into a contemporary design motif.
Architect Peter Pennoyer’s book ‘City I Country’ will be available for purchase.
Other educational opportunities are being finalised and will be announced on the events page of the fair website.
