The Munsteiner family confirmed this sad news in a statement released on Wednesday. His wife, Jutta Munsteiner, was by his side at the time of his passing.
At 54 years old, Tom Munsteiner was the proprietor of Atelier Munsteiner in Stipshausen, where he showcased his extraordinary talent as a gem carver. His distinctive cutting techniques earned him numerous AGTA Spectrum Awards throughout his illustrious career.
Recognized for transforming gemstones into artistic masterpieces, Tom Munsteiner was regarded as a visionary in the lapidary world. Fondly remembered for his contagious laughter and willingness to share his expertise within the lapidary community, his legacy extends far beyond his remarkable creations.
Having learned the craft of gem carving from his father, Bernd Munsteiner, himself a celebrated artist from a lineage of German gem cutters, Tom expanded the frontiers of gem sculpting. He ingeniously developed his unique creative style within gemstones, elevating them to highly sought-after and prized collectibles.
Survived by his parents, Hanne and Bernd Munsteiner, his wife Jutta, and son Philipp, the Munsteiner family plans to continue the family legacy in the gem business alongside their team in Germany.
