New York— Sotheby’s will showcase a 53.04-carat diamond at its upcoming New York jewelry auction, where the stone is projected to fetch up to $5 million. The unmounted, pear-shaped, D-color, internally flawless diamond is a standout feature of the June 7 Magnificent Jewels sale.
Another notable item in the auction is a Van Cleef & Arpels ring featuring a 7.46-carat Colombian emerald, framed by round diamonds. This piece, with a presale high estimate of $520,000, was once owned by Hollywood legend Ava Gardner.
This auction will also introduce Sotheby’s new pricing structure, which includes a 26% reduction in buyers’ fees. According to a survey conducted by Sotheby’s, more than 90% of the “tens of thousands” of clients surveyed indicated that the lower fees would encourage them to bid higher.
The auction is set to be a significant event, attracting collectors and enthusiasts with its exquisite offerings and favorable new fee structure.
