Waterloo regional police are investigating an armed robbery at a jewelry store in Kitchener’s Fairview Park Mall, marking the second such incident in the past 10 days.
On Monday night, four male suspects, reportedly carrying hammers, targeted an unnamed jewelry store. They fled in a vehicle, although police have not yet provided a description. One individual sustained minor injuries during the robbery. Authorities have announced an increased police presence around the mall as the investigation continues.
This recent robbery follows a similar incident on May 18 at another jewelry store within the same mall. In that case, four masked males, armed with hammers and one with a gun, smashed glass display cases and stole merchandise. The suspects discharged a noxious substance as they exited the mall and escaped in a white SUV driven by a fifth individual. Security images of the suspects were released shortly after the incident.
Police are urging anyone with information about either robbery to come forward.
