New York— Cartier unveiled its latest high jewelry collection, Nature Sauvage, in Vienna, Austria. The collection is a tribute to mystical animal motifs, featuring iconic creatures like the turtle, panther, crocodile, flamingo, and snow leopard. These animals are immortalized in dazzling diamonds, emeralds, and rubies, capturing the theatre and poetry of the natural world.
The choice of Vienna for the launch pays homage to Louis Cartier, who lived and worked in the city during the 1930s, establishing a deep connection to the region. This historical tie adds a layer of heritage to the Nature Sauvage collection, which aims to introduce new emblematic motifs to Cartier’s storied history.
The collection highlights the enduring allure of Cartier’s iconic animals. The panther, a symbol of the brand since the early 20th century, is prominently featured. In Nature Sauvage, the panther is reimagined as a bold bracelet with an attached eight-carat emerald ring. Hundreds of miniature diamonds form the panther’s coat, accented with sapphire details and bright emerald eyes, creating a dynamic and elegant piece.
The zebra and flamingo, revived from Cartier’s archives, are also showcased with contemporary designs. The zebra appears as an elegant onyx-striped necklace, adorned with diamonds and centered with a six-carat pear-cut ruby. The flamingo, integrated into a geometric diamond-laden reed design, is surrounded by emeralds and aquamarine stones, culminating in a 38-carat square-cut aquamarine stone.
Nature Sauvage combines Art Deco patterns, reptilian scales, and swirling crystalline designs to create a sense of rhythm, movement, and eternal life.
