Boghossian, the renowned high jewellery maison, has unveiled its latest masterpiece – the Palace Voyages collection – a mesmerizing homage to history, architecture, and the artistry of gemstones. First revealed in November at an exclusive showcase at the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, this extraordinary collection captures the grandeur of royal residences from around the world, turning them into breathtaking, wearable works of art.
Each piece in the Palace Voyages collection is a journey through time and culture, inspired by the architectural wonders of 14 iconic palaces, from the serene courtyards of Beijing’s Qianlong Palace to the intricate arches of Mysore Palace. With each jewel, the maison demonstrates its renowned craftsmanship and unwavering commitment to storytelling through design, blending history with modern elegance.
Ralph Boghossian, the sixth-generation guardian of the brand, was present at the unveiling event, where guests were treated to an immersive experience that paired cultural narratives with cutting-edge jewellery design. The Palace Voyages collection is more than just a display of opulence – it’s a conversation between the past and present, as each piece draws inspiration from the unique architectural features and historical significance of the palaces they honor.
“The study of these royal residences, their history, and architecture was truly enriching,” explains Edmond Chin, Boghossian’s creative director. “The unique characteristics of each palace seemed to imprint themselves upon the designs, creating jewels that embody a deep cultural resonance and beauty.”
The collection features show-stopping pieces that stand as testaments to the maison’s meticulous craftsmanship. The Tranquil Magnolia Necklace takes inspiration from the classical Chinese art adored by the Qianlong Emperor at Beijing’s Qianlong Palace. The piece is a delicate fusion of jadeite, mother-of-pearl, and diamonds, where the magnolia blossom appears to float serenely within the design, reflecting the architectural principles of balance and harmony intrinsic to the palace’s aesthetic.
From China, the collection journeys to Indonesia, where the sacred pools of Taman Sari in Yogyakarta served as the muse for the Flowing Droplets Set. Featuring vibrant Paraiba tourmalines and marquise diamonds, the jewels shimmer like sunlight dancing on water. The flowing design, with its mesh setting, evokes the rippling patterns of the pools, transforming nature’s fluidity into a striking piece of jewellery.
The grandeur of Bangkok’s Grand Palace is brought to life in the Grand Court Set. The Shimmering Rays ensemble, featuring yellow and white diamonds in a meticulously executed invisible setting, mirrors the soaring columns of the palace. The design evokes the strength and majesty of the mythological Naga, the dragon-like guardians of the palace, with the central pendant inspired by the Naga’s fierce head.
The Golden Dragon Ensemble, also part of the Grand Court set, continues this theme, as diamonds and polished gold snake through the piece in elegant curves, capturing the mythical essence of the Naga and the golden roofs that crown the palace.
Next, the collection travels to India, where the vibrant colours of Jaipur’s City Palace and its majestic Ganesh Gate inspire the Verdant Waves jewels. Featuring yellow diamonds and green tourmalines, the pieces curve gracefully, symbolizing the transition between realms, much like the transitions from the spiritual to the earthly that the palace itself represents. Meanwhile, the architectural arches of Mysore Palace are reimagined in the Durbar Blue collection, where lapis lazuli, turquoise, and baguette diamonds form bold, geometrically inspired designs.
The Queen’s Papyrus Set concludes the Palace Voyages journey, drawing inspiration from ancient Egyptian artistry. Combining matte jadeite with vivid emeralds and sharp-edged motifs, the pieces reflect the creative dynamism of the Amarna period. The necklace and earrings echo the shape of the papyrus plant, which played a crucial role in ancient Egypt’s legacy as an early form of paper.
Boghossian’s Palace Voyages collection is a celebration of history, culture, and craftsmanship, offering a new lens through which to experience the beauty of royal palaces and architectural wonders. Each piece is more than a jewel – it is a journey, a reflection of the rich heritage that has shaped these remarkable structures, now immortalized in exquisite gemstones.
This collection marks a new chapter in Boghossian’s storied legacy, combining modern artistry with centuries of tradition, and offering collectors a chance to wear history in its most dazzling form.
