Karma El Khalil, the visionary designer behind her eponymous jewelry brand, has unveiled a captivating new collection, Moonlight Rhapsody. This 15-piece collection is a beautiful tribute to the moon and the sense of hope it evokes.
Moonlight Rhapsody brings together a dazzling array of rare, custom-cut gemstones set in 18-karat yellow and white gold. Known for her unique selection of stones, El Khalil incorporates opal, aquamarine, apatite, spessartite, garnet, morganite, chalcedony, lavender quartz, and white and blue iolite to create pieces that evoke the beauty and mystery of the moon.
Each design in the collection represents elements of the lunar world. The “Ocean of Storms” necklace uses raw opal to reflect the rocky surface of the moon, while the “Colliding Neutron Star” earrings feature milky quartz, symbolizing the glow of a full moon. El Khalil’s signature satin-textured gold enhances the celestial feel, mimicking the matte surface of the moon itself.
Drawing from her early work, El Khalil integrates geometric chains, repetitive patterns, and negative space into the pieces, adding her trademark design style that has long captivated jewelry lovers. The movement of the collection is also a key element: “To honor the dynamic life of this celestial being, I created jewelry that moves with the wearer,” says El Khalil. Chains and hoops allow the pieces to remain in constant motion, symbolizing the shifting shadows of the moon as it orbits the Earth.
Moonlight Rhapsody is also an ode to hope. Inspired by the immense and awe-inspiring presence of the moon, El Khalil shared that the collection is a reminder of faith, especially in challenging times. “The moon’s otherworldly presence feels God-like and gives me hope. It’s a gift, and I never take it for granted,” she said. Through the collection, El Khalil seeks to express the inherent beauty of nature and remind us that in the darkest moments, goodness still surrounds us.
The Moonlight Rhapsody collection includes necklaces and earrings, priced between $3,800 and $34,000, reflecting the timeless beauty and deep symbolism of the moon.
