der Protection (CBP) recently confirmed the seizure of 1,708 counterfeit jewelry pieces, including rings, bracelets, earrings, and necklaces crafted to imitate the legendary “Alhambra” collection by Van Cleef & Arpels.
Had the items been authentic, they would have commanded a retail value exceeding $9.2 million.
The shipment, originating from China, was destined for a residential address in El Paso, Texas. Following a thorough inspection, CBP specialists determined that the items violated intellectual property rights and authorized their immediate confiscation.
While the allure of a bargain can tempt even the most style-savvy shopper, counterfeit jewelry often sacrifices craftsmanship, durability, and ethical sourcing. Beyond aesthetics, these imitations pose a serious risk to consumer trust and tarnish the reputation of legitimate luxury brands.
Fashion-forward consumers are encouraged to shop mindfully—prioritizing authenticity, craftsmanship, and provenance over price.
CBP urges the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious trade activities.
