At Christie’s Hong Kong, a stunning ring set with a 4.83-carat Fancy Vivid Blue diamond was sold for $8.8 million during the Magnificent Jewels sale. Overall sales from the event reached nearly $60 million, IDEX Online reports.
The blue stone, a brilliant-cut, internally flawless (IF) Type IIb diamond, is surrounded by fancy-cut diamonds within a gold setting. The selling price of the ring fell within the estimated range of $7 million to $10.2 million.
Two other pieces surpassed their high estimates in terms of selling price: an octagonal step-cut 21.38-carat sapphire in a platinum ring sold for $4.5 million (high estimate $2.3 million); and an 8.92-carat Fancy Vivid yellow-orange pear modified brilliant-cut diamond, which sold for $4 million (high estimate $3.8 million).
