The renowned IIJS Premiere, a prominent jewelry exhibition in India, has achieved remarkable success, reporting an impressive surge of 41% year-on-year, generating “over $8.4 billion of business” during the six-day event, according to IDEX Online.
Vipul Shah, Chairman of the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), the organizing body behind the event, expressed his enthusiasm over the exhibition’s outstanding performance. He stated, “IIJS Premiere 2023 is estimated to have seen business worth 70,000 crore being generated ($8.438 billion), which is far beyond anyone’s wildest dreams. As an exhibition, IIJS has truly come into a league of its own.”
The substantial figure of $8.438 billion marks a substantial increase from last year’s total of $5.958 billion, greatly surpassing both historical data and initial expectations. Notably, organizers had projected figures to be roughly in line with those of 2022.
Vipul Shah further elaborated, “IIJS Premiere 2023 has achieved unprecedented success, surpassing all previous records and exceeding our expectations. It has singlehandedly reversed market sentiments and kickstarted the business cycle into high gear, perfectly timed ahead of the festive and wedding seasons.”
The IIJS Premiere event featured an expansive lineup, showcasing more than 1,850 exhibitors occupying 3,250 stalls. The impressive turnout included over 35,000 trade visitors from India and an additional 80 countries, underscoring the exhibition’s international reach and impact on the jewelry industry.
