Discussions aimed at bolstering collaborative efforts in the domain of jewelry sales on the international stage are underway between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, as affirmed by Togrul Abbasguliyev, Chairman of the Association of Jewelers of Azerbaijan.
Abbasguliyev revealed that a partnership with the Jewelry Industry Association of Uzbekistan has been actively cultivated for a period spanning three years. Within this framework of collaboration, extensive deliberations are transpiring to explore avenues for promoting jewelry across various global destinations.
“Our collaborative endeavors have yielded remarkably productive outcomes. Azerbaijani brands have made successful appearances at exhibitions and festivals hosted in Uzbekistan. Numerous business conferences have been conducted, fostering a robust exchange of ideas. Notably, a delegation from the Jewelry Industry Association of Uzbekistan visited Baku in August 2023, where both parties extended proposals for further cooperation. A pivotal proposal involves showcasing our brands’ merchandise under the ‘Made in Azerbaijan’ label in Uzbekistan’s shopping centers, while products from Uzbekistan would be labeled ‘Made in Uzbekistan’ in Azerbaijani shopping centers,” Abbasguliyev articulated.
Abbasguliyev elucidated that several promising initiatives have been identified for concentrated focus, including leveraging Uzbek gold as a raw material for Azerbaijani manufacturers, establishing joint production ventures, facilitating jewelry manufacturing, and expanding exports to third-party nations. This strategic approach is poised to amplify brand reach and significantly elevate the contribution of jewelry products in export transactions.
Of note, Abbasguliyev acknowledged Uzbekistan’s distinguished stature as a prominent global gold producer.
“As part of our future plans, we intend to export Azerbaijani-made jewelry utilizing Uzbek raw gold to third-party markets. Our proposals have been formally submitted to our Uzbek counterparts, and we anticipate a forthcoming response,” Abbasguliyev expressed with anticipation.
