Walid Farouk – Ahmed Emam

Egypt’s Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Ali Al-Moselhi, recently chaired an extensive meeting to prepare for the upcoming third edition of the International Nebu Expo for Gold & Jewellery 2023.

The exhibition will be held from 26 to 28 November and will be attended by Ahmed Suleiman, Head of the Stamps and Weights Department; Ahmed Al-Wakeel, President of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce; Eng. Hani Milad, Head of the General Department of Gold and Jewellery at the Federation of Chambers of Commerce; Eng. Lotfi Al-Monib, Secretary General of the Division; Kamal Jaber, Director of Customs at the Exhibition and Convention Centre; and Dr. Alaa Ezz, Secretary General of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce.

In his remarks, Al-Moselhi affirmed the government’s keenness to support the Egyptian jewellery industry and strengthen its partnership with the Gold Division to regulate gold prices in local markets. “The government is also providing the necessary support to develop gold jewellery exports to global markets,” he noted.

The upcoming Nebio exhibition will be held under the auspices of the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, the Stamp and Weights Authority, the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce and the General Division of Gold and Jewellery at the Federation of Chambers of Commerce.

Milad, head of the General Division for Gold and Jewellery, revealed that the exhibition will be held on an area of 7,500 square metres at the Manara Exhibition Centre. It will feature pavilions for local and international manufacturers, including a special pavilion for the products of small and medium-sized workshops.

According to Milad, the exhibition will also support these workshops by reducing the cost of participation and allowing them to showcase their products in the markets.

The exhibition provides an opportunity to learn about the latest manufacturing methods to improve the productivity of these workshops and maximise their production and profitability opportunities.

This year, the exhibition will include a special pavilion for Egyptian designers to showcase their designs to international and local manufacturers.

In turn, Al-Monib mentioned that this year’s exhibition will witness the participation of 75 local companies from major Egyptian jewellery manufacturers and 35 international companies from Italy, India, UAE and Turkey.

Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the Gold Division noted that the attendance data of the previous Nebio Exbo showed 7,000 local visitors, 85% of whom visited the exhibition to make direct purchases.

He said that about 10% of the visitors came to explore the precious products and their quality, while 5% explored the opportunities available in the production and trade of gold jewellery.
