The thieves trying to break into Rivier Jewels in Tucker – the reinforced door didn’t break, but the side glass did, giving them a way in to steal thousands of dollars worth of jewellery… again!
“It cost them a lot to open that jewellery store. This has been a dream of theirs for many years,” said Sam Garcia, the owner’s son.
But that dream is turning into a nightmare for Yerald Rivera and Nancy Paredes.”To have this happen twice in two or three months makes them feel like they’re being targeted,” they said.
This time, a reinforced front door and jewellery locked away in a safe made it harder for the thieves, but they still got away with thousands of dollars in jewellery… and they also stole the Riveras’ sense of security. This latest burglary took place at 4.35am on Labour Day.
The alarm company alerted the owners, and when Sam arrived he found a Dekalb County police report noting their arrival more than two hours later.
The Riveras haven’t reopened the store since the break-in and don’t expect to.
