TREMONTON – Crystal Corner in Tremonton, located at 425 W. Main St., is housed in part of a retired grain elevator. The renovated space fits the purpose of the business. It is a place of healing and community gathering.
They sell stones and some are used for healing.
The old mill our shop is in has been there for at least 79 years.
“The old mill our shop is in has been around for at least 79 years,” said business owner Sara Anderson. “It’s been used as a shop before.”
Someone bought the building and renovated it, creating a space that suits her rock shop.
“The building has the coolest room. It’s got a lot of space,” she says. “We really like it. It fits what we do.”
The retail area is on the street level, and the upper level is used for meetings, classes and a gathering place. A ramp provides access to the upper level.
“In addition to teaching yoga, I have a practitioner room that is available for massage, foot zoning, reiki and other healing practitioners,” says Anderson. “I bring in as many tools as I can to help people on their healing journey.”
She invites different practitioners to come and help people. She has a psychic medium coming, an oracle, card readers and others. She has also opened up spaces for local practitioners to promote their business.
“We opened on my birthday in 2020, so we have a birthday celebration every year on the 28th of January,” Anderson said. “I sold stones out of my house for two years before we opened the shop.”
It’s a family business, with her husband mining some of her gems.
“I have two daughters who make jewellery out of stones, and my 11-year-old son cuts and polishes stones.”
Anderson specialises in alternative healing. She also has a medical background. She is a Licensed Practical Nurse with 15 years experience, and before that was a Certified Nurse’s Aide.
“Everything has a frequency, colours have frequencies, light has a frequency, radio waves have them and so do stones,” says Anderson. “Different stones have different frequencies that affect the human body and we can use a stone to help people with their healing process.”
The stone helps you fix yourself and gets the person into the right frequency.
“The stone doesn’t fix you,” she added. “The stone helps you fix yourself and brings the person into the right frequency.
The shop has bins of different kinds of stones to buy, some polished and some not. There are also necklaces and other jewellery with stones in them for people to buy.
“You come to a rock shop to buy stones, but it is more than that,” she said. “It is a community of hope and healing without judgement. Come as you are. Learn and be in a more positive space.”
Anderson said her passion for helping people has given her a way to help them on their healing journey.
Each stone has different healing properties, said Jeni Chipman-Schenk, a shop assistant.
“We have a book that talks about what the different healing stones are and what they do for people,” she said. “Smokey quartz, for example, helps people let go of things. It protects, helps balance life and reduces fear and anxiety.”
Each stone sold comes with a paper explaining the stone’s healing properties. For example, the Genesis Stone helps with muscle aches, headaches and other ailments. Sitting on the Genesis Stone while driving will reduce back pain caused by driving.
Purple Jasper, also known as the Fearless Stone, helps people to dream well and feel safe in their world.
Chipman-Schenk has worked at Crystal Corner for two years and enjoys interacting with customers and feels she is helping her community. She said that selling healing stones and crystals with specific properties that help people is a fulfilling experience.
