Sabyasachi announced the launch of a new jewellery collection, The Animal Ball Edition by Sabyasachi High Jewellery, with an exhibition at London’s Lancaster House on 27 June, the eve of the Elephant Family’s Animal Ball. The collection is a tribute to endangered species that continues the brand’s commitment to heritage, traditional craftsmanship and quality.
The Animal Ball Edition of Sabyasachi High Jewellery is crafted using centuries-old Indian jewellery-making techniques, including Meena, hand-enamelled gold; Pohai, the hand-stringing and weaving of gemstones and beads using Salma, a silk thread; and Jadau, the painstaking art of hand-moulding and setting gemstones in gold.
The flora and fauna insignia were sculpted by the Sabyasachi Art Foundation and cast in gold with hand-engraved details. The backs of these statement pieces feature the brand’s motifs in intricate flat filigree work set with diamonds, a signature of Bengali jewellery craftsmanship. With coloured gemstones including Zambian emeralds.
