Gull Meadow Farms is searching for the owner of a missing engagement ring found in their 1,500 square foot ‘corn crib.
KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Michigan – It could be said that buried treasure was found in the corn crib at Gull Meadow Farms in Kalamazoo County, but now the owners are trying to make sure what was found gets back into the right hands.
A silver engagement ring was found a foot deep in 1,500 square feet of corn. It’s an area of the farm called the Corn Crib, where children and families can dig and play in the corn.
“Last weekend, one of our guests was digging in here and saw the ring,” says manager Justin Wendzel, who is grateful to the family who turned it in instead of keeping it for themselves.
“I guess what happened was they didn’t even know they lost it out here, then a day or two later, maybe later in the afternoon, they realised they didn’t have it, but they didn’t really think to contact us about it, and so we’re trying to contact them, which is a lot harder than if they had remembered they lost it here,” said Wendzel, who says he empathises with whoever lost the ring.
“If my wife lost her engagement ring, she would obviously not sleep for weeks, probably stressed out about it,” Wendzel added.
Now, Gull Meadow Farms has begun the daunting task of making sure the ring gets back to its rightful owner, but they are not releasing pictures of the ring to avoid it falling into the wrong hands.
“It’s a unique ring, so we just want to make sure that if somebody has to describe it or show pictures of it, I don’t want to show it to everybody because then everybody would say yes, that’s mine,” Wendzel said.
Gull Meadow Farms posted a message on Facebook asking for the community’s help. It’s been shared more than 2,000 times.
“They want to find the owner as much as I want to find the owner. So it was kind of fun to see the groups it was shared to locally and how many people shared it,” he said.
Wendzel is asking anyone who thinks the ring is theirs to call him and have photos to prove it is theirs.
“If you have lost the ring out here at Gull Meadow Farms, please contact us because we want to get it back to you.”
