Angola’s National Diamond Trading Company (SODIAM) will hold an online auction this December of 20 special diamonds, including two of 208.78 and 235.47 carats, it announced on Thursday.
The viewing sessions will take place from 4 to 7 December at SODIAM’s headquarters in Luanda and the bidding, which will be done electronically, will close on 8 December.
According to the Angolan public company, the auction, which is only open to clients registered in the institution’s database, includes a batch of 20 special stones produced in the Lulo, Chitotolo, Somiluana and Uari mines, located in the Angolan provinces of Lunda Norte and Sul.
In 2022, SODIAM exported around 9.2 million rough carats with a total value of around $2 billion (€1.8 billion), corresponding to an average price of $214, making Angola the world’s third largest producer of rough diamonds by value.
