The event will be held on the trading floor of the DDC from 27-30 November, with the participation of 25 leading diamond companies from Israel.
The event was opened by Boaz Moldawsky, President of the Israel Diamond Exchange, and Elliot Krischer, President of the DDC NY, in the presence of diamond leaders including Eli Izhakoff, Honorary President of the WFDB. Also in attendance were Israel’s Consul General in New York Aviv Maoz, Israel Bonds President Danny Naveh, Israel’s Consul for Consular Affairs Avner Saban, Israel’s Economic Attaché Anat Katz and IDE member Adi Alexander, whose son Idan Alexander is being held hostage by Hamas in Gaza. The event opened with a minute’s silence in memory of those murdered on 7 October and a prayer for the release of all hostages.
IDE President Boaz Moldawsky said at the opening, “A few weeks ago I approached Elliott Krischer, President of the Diamond Dealers Club of New York, with the idea of a special sales event in New York. Elliot immediately agreed and turned the dream into a reality and an impressive show of support for the State of Israel. This is not an easy time for Israelis to leave the country, especially those who have loved ones serving in the army. So I am full of pride and appreciation for all the Israeli companies involved in this event.
As a result of the Gaza war, the Israeli economy has slowed considerably and the diamond bourse has seen a significant drop in activity. IDE hopes that the special sales event will boost the Israeli diamond industry and allow Israeli and New York diamond dealers to deepen their relationships.
