Like a giant roast turkey, candy canes are one of those foods for which people profess undying love but only consume at certain times of the year.
Unlike turkey, however, this writer actually enjoys candy canes, whether they are taken out of a festive holiday bowl or clad in gold and diamonds and worn around the neck à la Marie Lichtenberg.
The Paris-based designer recently hosted a press breakfast at La Mercerie in New York, and it was an early morning feast for the eyes.
The designer’s signature medallions were on display alongside her new bold letter scapulars, her ingenious Magic 8 Ball and her ‘Dick in a Box’ ring, because, why not?
It’s hard to play favourites with Lichtenberg’s jewellery, but there’s something so sweetly chic about her ‘Candy Cane’, the name she gave to a simple, round, three-dimensional bar necklace set with a swirl of diamonds.
The necklace is available in 18-carat yellow gold with diamonds ($7,400 retail) or in gold with purple or blue enamel, both with diamonds ($7,520).
It can be worn on a gold chain or paired with one of the designer’s colourful silk cords.
While the purple and blue enamel is lovely, this writer will keep her candy canes bright and shiny in plain gold, thank you very much.
Happy holidays to all and a good night to all.
