Vicenzaoro January, hosted at the Vicenza Expo Centre from January 19-23, continues its legacy as a nurturing ground for emerging jewelry artisans. Established in 1954, the fair is marking its 70th anniversary with seven special exhibitions, chronicling its rich history and heritage over seven decades. The event spans a diverse array of offerings, including luxury jewelry, diamonds, gemstones, services, visual merchandise and packaging, and cutting-edge technology.
Organized by the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), this year’s show anticipates over 1300 exhibitors from more than 35 countries, with visitors expected from over 130 countries. The success of Vicenzaoro is attributed to its ability to adapt, evolve, and stay ahead of industry trends, supported by companies, customers, buyers, institutions, associations, and media. Last year’s January show was particularly noteworthy, achieving record visitor numbers following the global disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Innovative Initiatives at Vicenzaoro January
Vicenzaoro January introduces several initiatives aimed at fostering the connection between training and industry, with a specific focus on providing an international platform for new jewelry talents. One notable project, named “The 8,” brings together two exceptional mentors, Alessia Crivelli and Alessio Boschi, to guide four emerging designers exhibiting in the Design Room (Hall 7). The project, serving as a bridge between education and the jewelry industry, aims to highlight the talents of students from professional schools, universities, and jewelry design master courses.
Another initiative, “Jewellery of the Future,” is an interdisciplinary research observatory organized by third-year jewelry design students at IED Rome. Rather than creating a collection, the focus is on expressing the students’ perspectives on the future of jewelry through art, architecture, culture, AI, and contemporary technology.
The Inspiration Boards project, directed by Laura Inghirami, involves students from IED Turin researching new trends at Vicenzaoro. These students will have a dedicated page on the Vicenzaoro website as well as an Instagram profile (@vo.inspiration).
Ceremonies and Competitions at Vicenzaoro January
The “Pharaoh’s Jewel” Award Ceremony, hosted by Labigem, the Italian Gemmology Laboratory, will honor winners of a competition inspired by Tutankhamun’s treasure. The competition, which attracted entries from over 25 institutions, selected eight outstanding submissions. The award ceremony is scheduled for Monday, January 22nd, at the Educational Hub (Hall 8).
VIOFF, Vicenzaoro’s “Off Show,” will feature talks, design competitions, and training sessions during the town’s events. Notable events include the Golden Talk and the Progold 3D Design Contest, offering young talents a platform to showcase their creativity and engage with industry representatives.
Additionally, the “Mauro Baschirotto Award” competition for scientific research will recognize international researchers with a ring inspired by DNA’s double helix. The award ceremony is set to take place on Monday morning at Vicenzaoro.
Vicenzaoro’s commitment to fostering talent, innovation, and industry collaboration remains evident through these diverse initiatives and celebrations, reinforcing its standing as a global hub for the jewelry sector.
