New York, NY – The Women’s Jewellery Association (WJA), a 501(c)(6), and the WJA Foundation, a 501(c)(3), have announced a strategic collaboration through a nonprofit affiliation agreement, underscoring their commitment to uniting and empowering women in the jewellery trade. The collaboration involves the WJA National President working closely with the Foundation governing board to align their efforts effectively.
This significant step, initiated by the WJA executive committee since 2022, signifies a milestone in enhancing the organizational structure of the WJA, fostering operational efficiency, and creating more opportunities for fundraising initiatives such as member grants and scholarships. Key WJA programs, including The Jewellery Loupe Project, a six-month accelerator for emerging designers, will now be integrated into the WJA Foundation, providing increased flexibility for corporate sponsorships to support various initiatives, in addition to scholarships and grants.
Gabrielle Grazi, assuming the role of WJA National President-Elect after her tenure as President of the WJA Foundation, expressed enthusiasm for the alignment, emphasizing the ongoing commitment to providing networking, professional development, and financial support for women in the industry. Grazi, also the VP of Retail Strategy & Partnerships at the Natural Diamond Council, brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having played a pivotal role in positioning the NDC as a leading authority on natural diamonds in North America.
The collaboration aims to create a more cohesive organizational structure, streamlining efforts to advance the WJA’s mission of offering educational and business opportunities for women in the jewellery trade. The move also positions the WJA to better serve its members by maximizing opportunities for career growth and impact within the industry.
The WJA is proud to introduce the members of the 2024 Foundation board, each bringing unique expertise to reinforce the foundation’s mission. Nikia Levesque, VP of Marketing at Day’s Jewellers, assumes the role of Foundation Vice President, leveraging her experience in marketing and strategic development. Annie Doresca, CFO at Jewellers of America, continues as Treasurer, providing invaluable financial acumen. Tiffany Stevens, President, CEO, and General Counsel for Jewellers Vigilance Committee, remains dedicated in her role as VP Communications, using her industry background to enhance outreach efforts.
The appointment of Gabrielle Grazi and the new Foundation board members marks a significant chapter in the organization’s ongoing commitment to supporting women’s careers in the jewellery and watch trade. Susan Chandler, WJA President and Chief Merchandising Officer for Citizen Watch America, expressed confidence in Grazi’s leadership and the foundation’s commitment to a holistic approach in aligning the foundation and association.
