New York, NY – The Women’s Jewellery Association (WJA) has unveiled two promising designers set to make their debut at the Centurion Jewellery Show. Renata Cambauva of HeyBabe and Sardwell of Renisis have been selected to present their collections at a dedicated WJA booth situated inside the MacArthur Ballroom, nearest to the Centurion Design Awards entrance.
WJA President Susan Chandler expressed enthusiasm about this inaugural opportunity, stating, “WJA is excited to provide this exciting tradeshow opportunity at Centurion for the first time to our Jewellery Loupe Project graduates. The opportunity to showcase their collections and meet buyers is the next evolution of our mentorship program. This arrangement is made possible with generous support from our partners at the Centurion Show, and we can’t wait to invite members of the trade to visit and learn more about these talented women.”
The showcased designers are graduates of WJA’s Jewellery Loupe Project, a six-month business development program for emerging designers within their initial five years of business. Sponsored by De Beers, the program, initiated in 2019 by former WJA Northern California chapter leader Marie McCarthy of Fiat Lux, has successfully trained and mentored over 60 emerging designers to date.
Each designer undergoes a one-on-one mentorship for the program’s duration, attending virtual sessions led by industry experts covering design, marketing, sourcing, manufacturing, retail, packaging, and pricing. The program concludes with a critique session in the fall, where mentors provide constructive feedback to prepare the designers for the launch of their collections.
Centurion CEO Howard Hauben expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, “We are extremely excited to be partnering with WJA and De Beers on this wonderful Jewellery Loupe Project. We look forward to continuing this partnership for many years to come!”
Renata Cambauva, a nomadic native Brazilian fine jewellery designer, infuses Latin American influences into her brand Hey Babe LA. The collection draws inspiration from the Kabbalah’s Tree of Life and Sacred Geometry, incorporating ethically sourced gemstones and 14-karat gold.
Sardwell, with a passion for art and a multicultural artistic journey, founded Renisis. Originally a creator of large-scale sculptural installations at the Rhode Island School of Design, Sardwell transitioned her artistic lens into the world of jewellery, living at the intersection of jewellery, sculpture, and theatre.
