Grammys’ Winning Jewels: A Glittering Affair

Last month’s Style File hinted at the elegance of “winter whites,” and at the recently concluded 66th annual Grammy Awards, held this past Sunday, the limelight was undeniably on shimmering diamonds and pristine white metals.

The event witnessed a plethora of timeless diamond designs, ranging from Beyoncé adorned in Cartier to Miley Cyrus bedecked in De Beers creations. Amidst these classics, however, stood out several distinctive choices, notably artist Fantasia Barrino’s red-carpet ensemble.

Styled by Daniel Hawkins, the “The Color Purple” star graced the occasion bedecked in diamonds from Messika, showcasing one of the night’s most unique pieces—the “Dancing Moon” lip jewelry from the brand’s “Midnight Sun” high jewelry collection.

Yet, it was Céline Dion who stole hearts with her resplendent diamond ensemble, making a surprise appearance at the event. The songstress dazzled in Tiffany & Co. jewels, with the pièce de résistance being a Tiffany high jewelry necklace boasting over 87 carats of diamonds set in platinum.

Taking to the stage to present the coveted “Album of the Year” award to Taylor Swift, Dion’s radiant presence was complemented by Swift’s own opulent display. Swift, adorned in 300 carats of diamonds from Lorraine Schwartz, sported a custom diamond necklace featuring a Concord vintage watch, ingeniously transformed into a choker by the designer.

In a nod to the Pantone Color of the Year for 2024, Peach Fuzz, rose gold made a subtle yet significant appearance across the evening’s fashion landscape. Notably, Colombian singer Maluma showcased exemplary jewelry selections, sporting a rare rose gold “Astronomia Tourbillion Baguette” watch from Jacob & Co., embellished with over 200 rubies.

Furthermore, Maluma debuted a bespoke creation from Atlanta-based jewelry company, Icebox, collaborating with Bose to craft a pair of diamond-studded Ultra Open Earbuds. The remarkable earbuds, set in 14-karat white gold and adorned with 365 diamonds, added a touch of luxury to the artist’s ensemble.

Meanwhile, Victoria Monet opted for rose gold accents, adorning herself with a Bulgari “Serpenti” necklace and bracelet, perfectly coordinated with her daughter Hazel.

Among the night’s winners, Dua Lipa stood out with her Tiffany & Co. “Pisces” necklace, a true masterpiece that required 1,017 hours to create. This platinum and 18-karat gold creation featured two fish embracing an untreated orange sapphire weighing over 23 carats, alongside a mesmerizing array of untreated Umba and Padparadscha sapphires, orange sapphires, rubellites, and diamonds.

Another Tiffany & Co. creation that captivated attention was host Trevor Noah’s iconic Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany “Bird on a Rock” brooch. Crafted in platinum and 18-karat gold, the brooch featured a citrine weighing over 54 carats, diamonds, and a pink sapphire—a delightful burst of color amidst Noah’s sleek all-black ensemble.

As the Grammy Awards concluded, all eyes are now on the emerging trends, from lip jewelry to watch necklaces, eagerly awaiting their impact on the fashion scene. Anticipation mounts for the upcoming SAG Awards, slated to stream on Netflix on Saturday, February 24th, promising another dazzling display of jewels on the red carpet.
