The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) has inaugurated the esteemed India Pavilion at the 20th edition of the Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition (DJWE), offering a dazzling display of craftsmanship, tradition, and contemporary designs. Spanning an impressive 216 square meters, the India Pavilion boasts 17 exhibitors and 18 booths, showcasing an unparalleled collection of Plain Gold, Studded Jewellery, and Diamond Studded Jewellery. Held at the Doha Exhibition & Convention Centre (DECC) from 5th to 11th February 2024, the DJWE serves as a prestigious platform for the global jewellery industry.
H.E. Mr. Vipul, Ambassador of India to Qatar, underscored the pivotal role of the embassy in promoting Indian exports and fostering trade relations between India and Qatar. He expressed delight in the substantial presence of the Indian Pavilion at the DJWE, emphasizing the collaborative efforts between the embassy and GJEPC to raise awareness and promote Indian jewellery in Qatar. Mr. Vipul highlighted the existing brand recognition and appreciation for the quality of Indian jewellery within the Qatari market, emphasizing the significant opportunity presented by the DJWE.
Vipul Shah, Chairman of GJEPC, highlighted the Middle East’s importance as a key export destination for India’s gem and jewellery products, accounting for 22% of total exports in the sector. He noted Qatar’s significance in contributing to the export of gold jewellery from India, amounting to USD 200.88 million in the fiscal year 2022-23. The India Pavilion at the DJWE serves as a strategic platform to understand consumer trends and preferences, facilitating further engagement with the region.
Mr. Shah further emphasized the seamless access provided to international buyers from the UAE, the Middle East, Africa, and the rest of the CIS through the India Jewellery Exposition Centre (IJEX) in Dubai. Serving as a dedicated B2B platform, IJEX in Dubai offers year-round opportunities for international buyers to explore and purchase exquisite Indian-made jewellery.
