Mark Cutifani, the former chairman of De Beers and CEO of Anglo American, has been appointed to the advisory board of Diamond Standard. Currently serving as chairman of Vale Base Metals, Cutifani’s addition comes as Diamond Standard prepares to introduce listed financial products for diamonds, as announced by the New York-based company on Tuesday. This upcoming offering aims to provide investors with the opportunity to diversify into an under-allocated asset with significant upside potential. Diamond Standard has developed an exchange-traded diamond commodity with regulatory approval.
Before his tenure at Vale Base Metals, Cutifani served as CEO at Anglo American from 2013 to 2022, during which he also held the position of chairman at De Beers, a subsidiary of Anglo American.
Diamond Standard founder Cormac Kinney expressed confidence in Cutifani’s global perspective and expertise, stating that his involvement will facilitate the application of the company’s technology to unlock other natural resources as investable assets.
