Renowned for her journalistic prowess and unwavering dedication, Hedda’s profound impact resonated across the industry, leaving an enduring legacy of excellence and inspiration. The scholarship, unveiled during Women’s History Month, honors Hedda’s remarkable contributions and trailblazing spirit.
The newly introduced scholarship aims to empower aspiring journalists, media professionals, content creators, and communicators within the fine jewellery and watch industries. Eligible candidates are encouraged to channel their talents and expertise, injecting fresh perspectives into the industry. Nikia Levesque, Vice President of Marketing for Day’s Jewellers and WJA Foundation Vice President, remarks, “In launching this scholarship in her memory, we pay tribute to Hedda’s unparalleled contributions, her unwavering dedication to storytelling, and her profound impact on all those she touched… in honoring Hedda’s memory, we celebrate the transformative power of storytelling to inspire, educate, and unite.”
Hedda’s illustrious career spanned roles as the esteemed editor-in-chief of JCK magazine and later The Centurion newsletter. Colleagues fondly recall her distinctive style, yet it was her warmth, wit, and passion that endeared her to many. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Hedda’s enduring curiosity and advocacy for young designers propelled the industry forward, earning her respect and admiration.
The scholarship, named in Hedda’s honor, is generously funded with $25,000 over a five-year period, made possible by esteemed sponsors committed to nurturing talent and promoting diversity. Sponsors will actively participate in the selection process, ensuring that recipients embody Hedda’s legacy of excellence and dedication. Notable contributors include Instore, Jim Baum, Howard and Patti Hauben, Elias World Media, JCK, Cliq Jewellery, Jewellers of America, National Jeweller, FIT Alumni Association, Jewellers Collective, Russell Shor, and Bill Boyajian.
