Hong Kong—At the HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show last month, China-based peridot miner Fuli Gemstones debuted a groundbreaking gem cut: the “Aura Cut.”
Crafted in honor of the Lunar New Year, the Aura Cut boasts a total of 101 facets, redefining the traditional round gemstone cut.
While a conventional round brilliant cut typically features 58 facets—33 on the crown (top half) and 25 on the pavilion (lower half)—the Aura Cut elevates the complexity of this design. Its crown comprises 37 facets, arranged in nine facets per section plus the table, while the pavilion showcases 64 facets, with 16 facets per section.
Peridot sourced from Fuli’s mine in northeastern China, nestled near the Changbai Mountains, distinguishes itself with a luminous, verdant hue, owed to its lower iron content, which influences the gemstone’s color vibrancy.
The nomenclature of the Aura Cut aptly captures the essence of the gemstone’s captivating allure. Fuli Gemstones attributes this name to the radiant energy exuded by the gemstone, a quality achieved through the fusion of its distinctive green peridot with the innovative cutting techniques employed in crafting the Aura Cut.
Drawing on the discoveries of quantum physics, Fuli underscores the inherent energy within physical atoms, describing them as vortices in perpetual motion, each emitting a unique energy signature. Light, as a visible manifestation of radiant energy, holds particular significance in this context, serving as a conduit for the gemstone’s inherent vibrancy.
Pia Tonna, executive director and chief marketing officer of Fuli Gemstones, expressed enthusiasm for the positive energy embodied by the peridot gemstone, extending the hope that others may also derive benefit from its uplifting qualities.
This latest innovation follows Fuli’s introduction of the “Fuli Cut,” a contemporary reinterpretation of the antique cushion cut, unveiled in September of the previous year at the Jewellery & Gem World Hong Kong show.
