Hong Kong – A stunning 15.51-carat, fancy-vivid-yellow diamond ring stole the show at Phillips’ recent Hong Kong Jewels auction, fetching an impressive HKD 8.9 million (USD 1.1 million). The VS2-clarity, round brilliant-cut diamond fell within its pre-sale estimate, contributing to the auction’s overall success.
The March 28th sale achieved a total of HKD 32.3 million (USD 4.1 million), with 73% of items finding buyers. This represents a 20% increase compared to the previous season, highlighting the sustained global demand for rare and exquisite jewels.
“The strong results of our spring auction in Hong Kong demonstrate the enduring appeal of exceptional jewels,” said Benoît Repellin, Phillips’ worldwide head of jewelry. Fancy colored diamonds, particularly the yellow diamond ring, were highly sought after, along with vintage signed pieces and top-quality Burmese rubies, emeralds, and sapphires.
This successful auction underscores the continued strength of the jewelry market, particularly for rare and vibrant colored diamonds. The 16-carat yellow diamond’s impressive sale price reflects the enduring allure of these exceptional stones among collectors and investors alike.
