Exciting developments are unfolding at the Herkimer Diamond Mines as the owners join forces with the proprietors of Portofino Restaurant to enhance visitor experiences. Renee Shevat, owner of the Herkimer Diamond Mines, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, citing the Roser Family’s expertise in food and beverage as a driving force behind the partnership.
Grant Roser, tasked with overseeing all food operations at the mines, outlined plans to elevate culinary offerings, beginning with the revitalization of the Canteen, the primary food outlet within the mines. The menu will feature handcrafted smash burgers, deli sandwiches, and a diverse array of culinary delights tailored to cater to the varied tastes of visitors.
Acknowledging the importance of efficiency without compromising quality, Roser emphasized the goal of providing prompt service, aligning with the lively and recreational atmosphere that characterizes the mining experience.
Furthermore, Roser disclosed plans to extend culinary services to ‘The Barn’, the premier events center at the Diamond Mines, ensuring that attendees are treated to delectable fare during special occasions.
Expanding beyond the confines of the mines, enhancements to the dining options at the KOA Campgrounds are also in the pipeline. Roser outlined plans to invigorate offerings at Scoops, the ice cream trailer, as well as the addition of a food truck specializing in liquor and small plates.
In tandem with the culinary improvements, Renee Shevat unveiled plans for a new section of the mine, aptly named “First Crack”, which will soon be accessible to the public following initial exploration by 300 miners.
Moreover, the property has undergone a significant expansion, with the introduction of 100 new camping sites on the west side, providing visitors with additional opportunities for outdoor accommodation.
With the collaboration between the Herkimer Diamond Mines and the Roser Family, visitors can anticipate a multifaceted experience encompassing mining, camping, shopping, and an array of dining options.
The Herkimer Diamond Mines are set to reopen this Friday, March 5th, with the Miners Table slated to commence operations featuring special offerings for Mother’s Day on May 12th.
