Denver—Steven Rosdal, fondly known as “Rosie,” co-founder of Hyde Park Jewelers and proprietor of SHR Jewelry in Denver, Colorado, passed away at the age of 77 on April 6.
Though battling neuroendocrine pancreatic cancer, his passing, as stated by his son Aaron Rosdal, was influenced by a combination of factors, as reported by BusinessDen.
Born in 1946 in New York, Rosdal was raised by his mother, Gloria Rosdal. He graduated from Cornell University with a bachelor’s degree in economics and began his career on Wall Street.
With a mere $1,500 to his name, Rosdal made the decision to venture westward, where he immersed himself in the Native American jewelry trade, eventually developing a profound affinity for the industry, according to his online obituary.
After several years as a journeyman jeweler, he embarked on a transformative journey, co-founding Hyde Park Jewelers in 1976 alongside his longstanding business partner, Michael Pollak.
In 2006, Rosdal divested his share in the company, subsequently establishing SHR Jewelers.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Rosdal found joy in riding his Harley with his “biker gang,” engaging in poker games, traveling, trading stocks, participating in political discourse, and avidly supporting the Denver Nuggets.
An advocate for community involvement, Rosdal dedicated time to mentoring aspiring leaders and giving back to society.
Above all, Rosdal cherished moments spent with his family and friends, who fondly remember him for his charm, fervor, integrity, benevolence, and wit.
He is survived by his son Aaron and daughter-in-law Emily, his grandchildren Elijah and Emmanual, his brother Richard, his nephews Jacob and Jared, and his former wife and lifelong friend, Lynn.
A funeral service in memory of Rosdal will take place at 1 p.m. on April 11 at Temple Emanuel in Denver, followed by interment at Emanuel Cemetery.
For those unable to attend in person, a livestream will be accessible on Feldman Mortuary’s YouTube channel.
In lieu of floral tributes, the family encourages contributions honoring Rosdal to the Denver Health Foundation and the Museum of Tolerance Jerusalem, which can be reached at [email protected], as well as the Gastrointestinal Research Foundation.
