With the successful operation of its Global Sightholder Sales in Gaborone for over a decade, the relocation of the Auctions headquarters underscores the company’s confidence in Botswana’s capabilities and its strategic growth trajectory.
Al Cook, Chief Executive Officer of De Beers Group, conveyed his enthusiasm for consolidating the company’s global diamond trading business under one roof. He underscored the logical and affirmative nature of shifting the Auctions business to Botswana, citing potential cost efficiencies and heightened customer support as key advantages. Cook also voiced assurance in the move’s capacity to foster the continued evolution of Botswana’s dynamic diamond sector.
As part of the transition process, operations and sales events at De Beers Group Auctions will undergo a temporary pause to facilitate a seamless relocation. This temporary hiatus aims to minimize disruption to customers and uphold the high service standards they expect.
Speaking on behalf of the Government of Botswana, Emma Peloetletse, Permanent Secretary to the President, hailed the relocation as a testament to Botswana’s escalating prominence as a global diamond industry hub.
