Authorities thwarted an attempted robbery at a jewelry store in Tsim Sha Tsui on Tuesday morning, resulting in the arrest of five individuals.
The incident unfolded shortly before noon when law enforcement received a report indicating the presence of five men armed with knives and hammers attempting to gain entry into VIPStation Jewelry store located on Haiphong Road.
Responding promptly to the alert, police officers arrived at the scene and swiftly apprehended the suspects, all of South Asian descent and aged between 22 and 35, before they could execute their intended crime.
Fortunately, the jewelry store incurred no losses as a result of the attempted robbery. Law enforcement personnel have cordoned off the area and are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
During the operation, several masked individuals were observed moving in and out of the cordoned-off premises. It was later revealed that these individuals were members of the police force’s “Hit Team,” also known as the Surveillance Support Unit, tasked with surveilling and apprehending the suspected robbers.
It is understood that law enforcement had received prior intelligence regarding the individuals involved in the attempted robbery, prompting proactive measures to prevent the crime from occurring.
The police had been monitoring the movements of the suspects until they were intercepted while traveling in a sedan on Haiphong Road, leading to their immediate arrest on-site.
