Sailor Moon, the iconic anime from the ’90s, is making a dazzling comeback with the international release of a stunning transformation-themed jewelry line.
The official Sailor Moon Store has collaborated with accessory brand Liquem to launch an extensive collection inspired by Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (1992) and Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon R (1993). Dubbed “90s Passion,” the collection includes items such as the Transformation Brooch Ribbon Earrings priced at $39 and the Crystal Star Compact Earrings priced at $42, along with rings and necklaces like the Moonstick Necklace available for $40. Fans can preview the collection on the Liquem website and register their interest ahead of the official launch scheduled for 11 AM (JST) on May 16, 2024.
Exclusive rings, except for the Transformation Brooch Ribbon Ring, are available at specific stores. Rose gold rings are offered by Liquem, while the regular gold versions are exclusive to the Sailor Moon Store. The collection is described as capturing the excitement and nostalgia of the era when Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon first captivated audiences worldwide, inspiring dreams and awe among girls in Japan and beyond.
Despite airing over three decades ago, the allure of magical girl anime remains strong today. This week, fellow anime Cardcaptor Sakura introduced a new gold jewelry set, while the collaboration between Sailor Moon and Liquem marks their fifth venture together. The franchise has remained highly active, recently reopening the world’s only permanent Sailor Moon store. This reopening featured exclusive jewelry sets like the “Disguise Pen,” “Cutie Moon Rod,” and “Moon Stick,” followed by a comprehensive collaboration with RoseMarie seoir’s x Sailor Moon, offering a range of jewelry, dresses, and other fashion and home-related items.
Beyond jewelry, Sailor Moon’s distinct ’90s aesthetic is making a comeback in various forms. VIZ Media has confirmed the release date of the original anime’s fifth season, Sailor Stars. Additionally, the recent conclusion of the anime remake Sailor Moon Cosmos has sparked discussions about the series’ future. CBR’s feature “What’s Next for Sailor Moon After Cosmos?” explores potential adaptations, including Sailor V and other exciting prospects.
