Hong Kong— A suspected data breach has compromised the personal details of over 5 million members of Lukfook Jewellery, now available for sale on dark web platforms for HK$195,000 worth of cryptocurrency.
The leaked data reportedly includes members’ names, dates of birth, addresses, HKID numbers, email addresses, account passwords, mobile numbers, and WeChat accounts. Both mainland Chinese and local Hong Kong customers are affected.
The hacker claims the database contains information on 5 million members and is demanding 25,000 Tether tokens, equivalent to approximately HK$195,000.
The Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data stated that it has not received any reports about the data breach incident and will be contacting relevant organizations for further information.
Lukfook Jewellery has not yet issued any statements regarding the incident.
