Geneva— Thousands of industry insiders from the precious stone and jewelry sectors have converged in Geneva for the eighth edition of GemGeneve, one of the world’s premier gem fairs. This year, the event highlights exceptional pieces and top designers from China.
A standout piece, “Red Lotus under the Sun,” by acclaimed Chinese jewelry designer Diana Zhang, captures the essence of a lotus emerging in the summer sun. Zhang, born in Jilin Province, spent three years meticulously crafting this bracelet from hundreds of the finest rubies and diamonds. She is a prominent figure in the Asian jewelry scene.
“I love the best natural gemstones, like these unheated Burmese rubies. I collected 100 pieces over a year, choosing the best clarity and pigeon blood color,” Zhang explained.
Another distinctive Chinese designer, Aso Leon, known as the “Prince of Titanium,” has introduced pieces inspired by nature. Aso, who has made titanium his signature material since 2005, appreciates the recognition his work receives. “The name ‘Prince of Titanium’ was given to me by the press and public. I’m grateful for their support and love, though it can be overwhelming at times,” he said.
Two other renowned Chinese artists are also featured at the fair. Xiao Xintong, also known as A-win Siu, creates whimsical candy brooches adorned with diamonds and precious stones, designed to bring joy to the wearer. Hong Kong artist Ho Siu Chong presents elegant swan brooches and rings that can transform into different shapes, showcasing innovative design and versatility.
The participation of these Chinese artists at GemGeneve elevates their profiles, positioning them prominently in the international arena of top-tier jewelry craftsmanship.
