New York— A 53.04-carat D-color, internally flawless diamond is set to be a highlight at Sotheby’s New York, where it is expected to sell for up to $5 million. The Type IIa pear-shaped diamond will lead the Magnificent Jewels sale on June 7.
According to a GIA report from November, the diamond boasts very good polish, good symmetry, and no fluorescence. The diamond carries an estimate of $3 million to $5 million.
This auction will be one of the first to operate under Sotheby’s new pricing structure, introduced on May 20, which features a reduced buyer’s premium, down by 26 percent.
Another notable item in the auction is a David Morris necklace featuring Kashmir sapphires ranging from 2.40 to 11.37 carats, paired with graduated oval-shaped diamonds. This piece also carries an estimate of $3 million to $5 million.
