New York— Renowned London-based jewelry designer Karina Choudhrie is set to debut her fine jewelry collections at the Couture show in Las Vegas, marking her first exhibition in the United States. Known for her high jewelry brand K&Co, Choudhrie is now presenting her work under the Karina Choudhrie Jewels banner.
“I cannot wait to experience this amazing jewelry community and, of course, the Vegas energy,” Choudhrie shared in an email interview with JCK.
Having established K&Co in 2007, Choudhrie has built a reputation through bespoke designs and word-of-mouth referrals. “After designing for others for 15 years, I felt ready to launch my own collection, and last year, that dream became a reality. I see my fine jewelry as an extension of my high jewelry art world,” she explained.
Choudhrie’s journey began with designing for a Beverly Hills jeweler, followed by a commission from a private client in the Middle East, which ignited her passion for blending art with the craftsmanship of high jewelry.
To distinguish Karina Choudhrie Jewels from other brands, she focuses on “extraordinary workmanship” and meticulous sourcing. “I still love working at the very high end, creating one-of-a-kind jewels that tell a story, but my philosophy is that fine jewelry can be designed and celebrated just like high jewels,” she said. Her collections are crafted in the same atelier as some of the top jewelry maisons, using only the finest materials and natural-colored stones.
For 2024, Choudhrie’s primary focus is introducing her Icon and Vitamin Pink collections to U.S. consumers. She has experimented with new silhouettes, scales, and colorways for these pieces, with more surprises to come throughout the year.
“I have always dreamed of launching in America,” Choudhrie stated. “The United States is an incredibly important and influential market where some of the world’s key retailers are based, and it’s a hub for media. The U.S. has provided opportunities to so many designers, and historically it’s where some of our industry’s most influential jewelers have had their stage.”
Born in Mumbai and raised in Dubai, Choudhrie received her gemologist certification in California. She hopes her journey from novice to expert will inspire others in the jewelry industry. “If you believe in your product and surround yourself with the right people, you can learn the process. It just takes time, commitment, and perseverance,” she concluded.
