Westport, CT— Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a brazen smash-and-grab burglary that occurred at Lux, Bond, and Green jewelry store on May 9.
The incident took place around 3:10 p.m. when masked burglars, armed with sledgehammers, shattered display cases and stole an unspecified amount of jewelry. Employees, who were present at the time, quickly moved to the back of the store and avoided any interaction with the suspects.
The burglars fled the scene on foot, heading south on Elm Street, before escaping in a black BMW sedan via Post Road East towards Fairfield.
A 30-year-old man from Bridgeport has been apprehended and charged with first-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny, first-degree criminal mischief, and conspiracy to commit first-degree criminal mischief. The arrest was made at Stamford Superior Court, where the suspect was already in custody on unrelated charges from other jurisdictions. He is being held on a $250,000 bond.
Police continue to investigate the total value of the stolen jewelry and the involvement of any additional suspects.
