eBay is broadening its consignment service to encompass fine jewelry, luxury watches, and footwear, building on its existing services for handbags and luxury apparel. This expansion allows casual sellers to leverage eBay experts for assistance in listing and selling high-end items.
Sellers utilizing the consignment service have experienced higher final sales prices compared to traditional listings. For instance, a small quilted Chanel 19 flap bag consigned in December 2023 sold for over 45% more than the average price of similar bags sold on eBay last year.
Eligible brands for the expanded consignment service now include Golden Goose, Gucci, David Yurman, Chanel, Hearts on Fire, Tag Heuer, Hublot, among others. Sellers can participate by filling out a consignment intake form, after which they receive a prepaid label for insured shipping. eBay, in partnership with luxury goods seller Linda’s Stuff, handles the item’s photography, pricing, and listing. Once sold, the consignor receives a percentage of the sale proceeds based on the selling price.
This consignment service is part of eBay’s broader efforts to support circular fashion, which includes programs like Certified by Brand, allowing brands to sell at all inventory stages, and Authenticity Guarantee, ensuring the authenticity of high-value purchases to build buyer confidence.
