Elmira—Waterloo Regional Police have released new photos of individuals they are trying to identify in connection with a jewelry store theft in Elmira.
The suspects were spotted near Hartman Jewellers, located at Arthur Street South and Church Street East, between 3:30 a.m. and 3:45 a.m. on Tuesday. They initially left the area but returned around 4 a.m. in different clothing.
The store owners, Stephen Meyer and his partner, were alerted to the break-in around 4:30 a.m. “[Police] said that there was glass in front of the store and that we needed to get down here,” Meyer told CTV News.
The thieves had smashed through the front door, broken several display cases, and stolen an undisclosed amount of merchandise. Meyer shared video surveillance footage with the police, which he said showed two suspects.
On Thursday, the police released new images of the two individuals they are seeking to identify in connection with the theft. They also noted that the suspects were seen driving an older model silver SUV.
Anyone with information about the suspects or the theft is urged to contact Waterloo Regional Police.
