Crookston—The Crookston Area Chamber Ambassadors gathered this week to honor and congratulate two new businesses in the community, including The Jeweler, founded by Bishop Lee Moronez Jensen.
Jensen’s journey in the jewelry industry began at 19 when he started working at Helzberg Diamonds in the Columbia Mall under Bernie Hagen’s mentorship. He then moved to Sioux Falls to master the trade of Gold and Silver Smithing across all three levels before returning to work at Helzberg Diamonds and later Riddles Jewelry Store in Grand Forks.
Recognizing an opportunity in Crookston following the closure of Munn’s Jewelers, Jensen proposed opening a new jewelry store. He eventually realized his dream, opening The Jeweler in Downtown Crookston in February 2024. Jensen describes his store as shopper-friendly, emphasizing transparency and fairness with customers. Initially considering a repair-only shop, he expanded his offerings to include buying inventory and acquiring investors.
The Jeweler provides jewelry sales, sizing, and repairs, with plans for future expansion. To celebrate the opening, Jensen is offering a 40% discount on lab-grown diamonds for first-time customers.
Located at 103 S Main Street, The Jeweler is open Tuesday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Friday-Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Crookston Area Chamber Ambassadors continue to support local entrepreneurs through networking events, ribbon-cutting ceremonies, and other community activities, providing resources and encouragement to new businesses in Crookston.
