Colombo—Sri Lankan Customs officers from the Narcotics Control Unit at Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport have arrested a Sri Lankan national arriving from France for attempting to smuggle undeclared 24k gold jewellery through the green channel.
The suspect, identified as a 47-year-old resident of Jaffna, was detained upon arrival on Qatar Airways flight QR 654. Customs officials seized 995 grams of gold jewellery, valued at approximately Rs. 20 million.
An investigation by the Narcotics Control Unit of Sri Lanka Customs is currently ongoing to uncover further details surrounding the incident.
