OJ Simpson’s attorney has disclosed what became of the late NFL star’s ashes, revealing that they have been transformed into personalized jewelry for his four surviving children.
Approximately four months after Simpson’s passing, Malcolm LaVergne, the attorney, shared with TMZ that Simpson’s remains were carefully crafted into cremation jewelry pieces. These keepsakes were distributed among Simpson’s children: Arnelle, 55, Jason, 54, Sydney, 38, and Justin, 36.
The creation of these memorial pieces came at a significant cost, with the process totaling more than $4,000, according to LaVergne. The attorney mentioned that he opted not to receive a piece of the jewelry himself. The expenses covered not only the jewelry-making but also the cremation and the necessary death certificates, amounting to a total of $4,243.06.
OJ Simpson, who was known for his athletic prowess and later infamous for his legal troubles, lost his battle with cancer in April. In the days leading up to his death, Simpson’s children visited him, with TMZ reporting that they were required to sign nondisclosure agreements and were not allowed to have their phones with them during their final moments with their father.
Simpson had four surviving children from two marriages. He shared his eldest two children, Arnelle and Jason, with his first wife, Marguerite Whitley. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1979. The couple also had a daughter named Aaren, who tragically passed away before her second birthday that same year. Simpson’s youngest children, Sydney and Justin, were born from his subsequent marriage to Nicole Brown Simpson.
Simpson’s life was marked by both fame and infamy. In 1994, he was acquitted of the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman, though he was later found liable for their deaths in a civil suit. In the years that followed, Simpson faced further legal troubles, eventually serving time for armed robbery.
Despite his controversial past, Simpson maintained a presence on social media after his release from prison. He publicly shared his health struggles, including his battle with prostate cancer, which he announced in 2023. His final public appearance was in Las Vegas in February 2024, where he assured his followers that his health was improving and that he was “just about over” his medical issues.
OJ Simpson passed away in April 2024, leaving behind a complex legacy that continues to captivate public interest. His ashes, now immortalized in jewelry, serve as a personal and lasting reminder for his children of the man who once dominated both the sports world and the headlines.
