Tiffany & Co. Celebrates Valentine’s Day With Iconic Love Letters From Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, And More

In a tribute to romance, Tiffany & Co. has transformed its renowned windows at The Landmark location in New York City for this year’s Valentine’s Day. The showcase features an exquisite collection of love letters penned by some of history’s most beloved icons, including Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, and several other distinguished personalities.

Marilyn Monroe’s heartfelt note, dated 1962 and sealed with a tender kiss, is a highlight of this year’s display. Monroe’s letter eloquently expresses her belief in the power of love: “I think love is the most important thing that can happen to you.” This sentiment resonates beautifully with the romantic theme of the showcase.

Joining Monroe’s poignant message are four additional exclusive love letters from celebrated figures closely associated with Tiffany & Co. Jewelry designer Jean Schlumberger contributes a letter that reads, “Good morning my darling. So much love,” accompanied by two charming sketches of blue flowers. Fashion icon Paloma Picasso adds a touch of her unique perspective with her note, “I will never stop loving love.” Architect Peter Marino’s contribution, “To love is to be on fire,” encapsulates the passionate spirit of the season.

One of the most significant pieces in the collection is a letter from Audrey Hepburn to Henry Mancini, the composer renowned for the iconic score of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, including the legendary song “Moon River.” This year marks what would have been Mancini’s 100th birthday, and Hepburn’s letter, provided by Mancini’s family, adds a special touch to the display. Hepburn writes, “A movie without music is a little bit like an aeroplane without fuel. However beautifully the job is done, we are still on the ground and in a world of reality. Your music has lifted us all up and sent us soaring… You are the hippest of cats, and most sensitive of composers. Lots of love, Audrey.”

The love letters are elegantly showcased alongside a selection of Tiffany’s sparkling jewelry, making for a truly enchanting Valentine’s Day display. From February 10 to February 14, The Landmark and select Tiffany stores nationwide will also offer an interactive experience, inviting visitors to share their own love letters and be part of this celebration of romance.
