Blackpink’s Lalisa Manoban, popularly known as Lisa, made a bold statement at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), debuting her “bad girl” persona in a striking nude corset dress. The Thai pop sensation, who is nominated for Best K-Pop, Best Choreography, Best Editing, and Best Art Direction for her track “Rockstar,” graced the black carpet in a custom Mugler design that closely resembled a catsuit. The ensemble featured a draped hood and extended gloves, showcasing a dramatic and edgy silhouette.
Lisa, a Bulgari ambassador, enhanced her look with opulent accessories including a gold serpentine choker necklace and an oversized ruby cocktail ring. Her makeup complemented the outfit with a soft, feline-inspired aesthetic, highlighted by a glossy nude-pink lip and winged cat eyeliner.
When asked about the inspiration behind her ensemble, Lisa noted, “I wanted something timeless, classic.”
Lisa and her Blackpink bandmates made their VMAs debut in 2022, donning coordinated black outfits for the event. At that time, Lisa’s ensemble consisted of a full Céline outfit, including culotte trousers, strappy black heels, and a strapless crop top with a train and sweetheart neckline. She accessorized with a Bulgari Serpenti Seduttori yellow gold pendant necklace and Serpenti Viper bracelets in pink and white gold, complemented by her signature blunt bangs.
Currently pursuing a solo recording career while remaining active with Blackpink, Lisa’s appearance in the nude corset dress on Wednesday night not only marked the beginning of her “bad girl” era but also aligned with a popular red carpet trend embraced by other celebrities such as Emily Ratajkowski, Kendall Jenner, and Taylor Swift. Corset dresses continue to be a favored choice for A-listers aiming for a glamorous and impactful red carpet look.
