Lucara Diamond Corp., headquartered in Canada, has announced the recovery of a 1,094-carat rough diamond from its Karowe mine in Botswana. This discovery marks the sixth diamond over 1,000 carats unearthed from the mine.
The newly recovered diamond closely resembles the 692-carat gem found in August 2023, which was polished by HB Antwerp and fetched over $13 million. Following the successful partnership, the latest diamond will also be polished by HB Antwerp, continuing their collaboration that has consistently achieved significant financial returns.
William Lamb, President and CEO of Lucara, commented, “The recovery of this exceptional 1,094-carat diamond underscores the extraordinary potential of the Karowe mine and reaffirms our commitment to the underground expansion project. The ongoing discovery of large, high-value diamonds highlights the consistent quality of our resource and its potential for substantial returns. As we advance with our underground development, we are increasingly confident in Karowe’s ability to produce these iconic diamonds well into the future, reinforcing our position in the luxury diamond market.”
