Sotheby’s recent Fine Jewels auction in Paris saw dazzling success, bringing in an impressive $6.5 million. A highlight of the October 10 sale was a stunning Cartier emerald and ruby bracelet, which fetched €480,000 ($523,965), cementing its place as the top lot of the event.
The tutti frutti bracelet, an iconic design from Cartier, featured intricately carved emeralds, vibrant rubies, and emerald beads set with single and brilliant-cut diamonds. It met its high estimate, capturing the attention of collectors and jewelry enthusiasts alike.
The auction also included over 80 pieces from the personal collection of Dame Shirley Bassey, the legendary singer known for her extravagant taste. Her collection proved to be a major draw, contributing significantly to the auction’s overall success.
One unexpected outcome of the sale was the failure of a cushion-cut, 4.03-carat fancy-pink diamond pendant to find a buyer. Despite being expected to lead the auction with a presale estimate of up to €550,000 ($600,215), the striking pink gem remained unsold.
