Kim Kardashian has made a significant addition to her jewelry collection by acquiring the renowned Attallah Cross, once owned by Princess Diana. This acquisition was confirmed through a recent Sotheby’s auction, where Kardashian placed a winning bid of approximately $200,000 for the stunning piece.
The Attallah Cross, valued between $98,668 and $148,002, features a Fleurée cross adorned with square-cut amethysts and circular-cut diamonds. Crafted in the 1920s by the esteemed court jeweler Garrard, the pendant was originally purchased by Naim Attallah, who lent it to Princess Diana on multiple occasions. Notably, Diana wore the cross during a charity gala in 1987 to support Birthright, an organization dedicated to protecting human rights in pregnancy and childbirth. This event showcased one of Diana’s most memorable fashion moments as she paired the cross with a striking black and purple gown designed by Catherine Walker.
Sotheby’s highlighted that the Attallah Cross was one of Diana’s favorite pieces, having been worn exclusively by her during her life. Following Diana’s tragic death in 1997, the pendant remained hidden from public view until its recent auction. The luxury auction house noted that this particular piece is a highlight of the Royal & Noble sale, which is available for online bidding until January 18.
Kardashian’s purchase is not her first venture into high-profile acquisitions. In 2017, she bought Jackie Kennedy’s Cartier watch for $379,500 and has also secured other iconic fashion items over the years. The sale of the Attallah Cross was confirmed by Julien’s Auctions via social media, emphasizing its significance in both fashion history and royal legacy.
As Kardashian prepares to debut this historic piece publicly, it marks a new chapter for the Attallah Cross, bridging past elegance with contemporary style.
